Rock Springs Run forms part of the first congressionally designated National Wild and Scenic River basin in Florida. It flows through Wekiwa Springs State Park and Rock Springs Run State Reserve, eventually joining the Wekiva River and then the St. Johns River. The basin includes several waterways and features the historic Ethel Cemetery, built in 1880, which was part of the old town of Ethel, a former railroad stop.
